Publications Officer

Overview: The Publications Officer is responsible for creating, managing, and distributing organizational publications to ensure effective communication and alignment with the organization's goals. This role involves overseeing the production of print and digital materials, maintaining content quality and consistency, and ensuring publications meet branding standards. The Publications Officer collaborates with various departments to support internal and external communication strategies while managing deadlines and ensuring timely delivery of materials.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary Diploma or degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience in content creation, publication production, and digital media management.
  • Proficiency in working with design and publishing software.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
  • Proficiency in publishing software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Publisher) and digital tools.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with branding and visual design principles. 
  • A valid driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Successful completion of a drug and alcohol screening.
  • Clearance of a criminal background check.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, edit, and proofread content for newsletters, reports, brochures, and other publications, ensuring consistency with brand messaging.
  • Coordinate design, layout, and production of print and digital materials, managing relationships with vendors and ensuring high-quality output.
  • Maintain and update online publications, including website content, email campaigns, and social media posts.
  • Review all materials for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify communication needs and improve publication strategies.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience in content creation, production oversight, and digital media management.
  • Proficiency in publishing and design software.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
