Personal Support Worker

Position Summary :
The Personal Support Worker is an integral part of the Home & Community Care team. Based on assessed needs and under the direct supervision of the Home & Community Nurse/Manager, the Homemaker provides support to client in activities of daily living like household maintenance and personal care services.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Personal Support Worker Certificate
- Grade 12 diploma
- Must be in a good health and physically fit.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in dealing with clients.
- Excellent verbal and written communication & organizational skills.
- Ability to use computers and electronic software.
- Ability to communicate in OJI-Cree and/or Ojibway an asset.
- Able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Valid CPR and First Aid,
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening mandatory
- Valid G driver's license and access to a vehicle is an asset.
- Successful completion of a drug screening is required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To provide household management assistance to the client.
- To provide personal care according to the approved client's care plan.
- To provide services of respite according to the care plan of the client, for clients who cannot be left alone and/or are ill.
- Provide care to the client so that the caregiver can be given a break and continue to provide care on a long-term basis.
- Promote independence of the clients by teaching either the client or the family around selfcare.
- Maintain accurate records of activities provided to the clients in the clinic EMR system.
- Keeps knowledge current through attendance at training programs and workshops when required.
- Provide light cleaning services for clients of the Home & Community Care Program.
- Ensure that clients have a safe home environment.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided to clients.
- And other duties as assigned by the Home and Community Care Department Manager.
