Nurse
Location: Jane Mattinas Health Centre (JMHC)

Duration: Full-time for one year contract with possibility of extension.

Position Summary:
The Community Health Nurse, under the supervision of the Medical Service Manager will provide a comprehensive range of nursing functions and services in program areas of community/public health and primary care, through promotion and maintenance of the health of individual(s) and families of Constance Lake First Nation, focusing on promoting health, preventing disease and injury, protecting population health as well as, when required, a focus on curative, urgent and emergent care, rehabilitation and supportive or palliative care.

Preferred Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Nurse or a Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a Canadian University or recognized equivalent ; OR
  
• Diploma in nursing or community health nursing from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Must be a member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario or the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario with Legal Assistance Program (LAP) insurance, or willingness to become a member.
• Minimum of two years' clinical experience in nursing.
• Current CPR, AED and First Aid course or willingness to obtain.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills approach with clients in a clinical setting.
• Knowledge and understanding of working in a First Nation community.
• Must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Must pass the Criminal Records and Vulnerable Sector Search.

Duties and Responsibilities

• IV management; wound management; blood work; injections; catheter care; OTN services; basic and advanced foot care;
• Provides pre- and post-natal care, teaches pre-natal classes, visits homes and makes referrals. Conducts child health clinics. Immunizes children and provides counseling to parents of newborn infants and preschoolers. 
• Provides nursing care to clients in their home, in the community and at Jane Mattinas Health Centre;
• Conducts clinics and home visits to follow up clients with communicable diseases and their contacts.
• Perform administrative tasks.
• Additional duties as assigned by the Medical Services Manager in support of the medical service department.
